Mathematics in Florida has risen in popularity in recent years. The purpose of this site is to keep our current students informed about competitions which we will attend and are considering attending. It will also serve the purpose of showing interest and naming teams. Consisting of the best students of mathematics in Florida, we compete in various national and regional competitions, especially Mu Alpha Theta. I, myself, am Saiem Gilani, and I have taken it upon myself to keep us informed and organized. Please feel free to contact me about information via email ([email protected]). Hopefully we will have some notes, links, and various results up on our site soon enough.
After our amazing performance at the Harvard-MIT Math Tournament, we are definitely going to go back for another tournament. One problem with this, is that it will in all likelihood conflict with a Mu Alpha Theta Invitational. I hope this doesn't deter anyone from attending. We will probably be taking applications of interest for the Harvard-MIT B team for Florida sometime soon. I will try to keep you posted on that. It would also help if you told us your topics of interest for that. Its always good to do a little research on your own to make things easy on us.
We are strongly considering going to the Princeton Math Competition, we already have 7 out of 10 members committed. It is a great opportunity for us to not only see a great college, but also to compete with the best in mathematics. This competition pretty much bases itself off of HMMT and ARML. This is especially good for ARML, because we have most of our best on that team, and it gives us an extra opportunity for the team to mesh and get used to working together well, especially for things like Power round and Relay.
I will post links soon to these competition's sites, and to various mathematical sites which would be of use to you.
